Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

The short answer is no. Dr. Brannon and Dr. Weiser do not work for the insurance companies, so there are not the same limitations on being able to care for your child. Instead of paying a copay every time you come to the office, you pay the monthly membership. There are no hidden fees or charges later for being seen. If testing is done, you will know the cost prior to having the test done.

Do you take medicaid patients?

Yes, because insurance (or lack of insurance) doesn’t matter with direct patient care. However, Dr. Mom Pediatrics does not bill Medicaid, and the monthly membership still applies.

Do I still need insurance?

Direct Patient Care is not insurance, and does not cover any type of catastrophic/hospital care. Although the goal is to mitigate ER visits through good preventative medicine, accidents happen. We recommend at least a high deductible health plan or being part of a health sharing ministry to cover those unexpected high cost trips to the ER or emergency hospitalizations. Speak with your insurance representative to find out which plan is right for you.

What is the vaccine policy of the practice?

Dr. Brannon and Dr. Weiser fully support vaccines and recommend following the CDC guidelines. However, they do understand that not all parents are in agreement with this, and they simply request that they be able to have a conversation with you about the topic. All patients are welcome, regardless of their vaccination status.

How long will an appointment last?

The simple answer is as long as it needs to. Most appointments will be between 30-60 minutes of face to face time with your pediatrician. This will allow ample time to ask and answer questions.

Do you have an office?

At this time, Dr. Mom Pediatrics is solely home visit based. There may be an office location in the future, but that will be determined based on patient and practice needs.

Can I use my FSA/HSA account to pay?

Yes. This is care provided by a medical professional. https://www.irs.gov/publications/p502#en_US_2019_publink1000178851

My child is healthy, why do I need a membership?

We love healthy children, and we want to help keep them that way. We do much in the way of preventative medicine; but in the event they do get sick, we are still available and much cheaper and faster than a trip to the urgent care or ER. Plus, the out of pocket costs of one ER trip can sometimes be equal to an entire year’s membership. There is also the benefit of knowing that Dr. Weiser or Dr. Brannon is who you will be dealing with and not a doctor you’ve never met who does not know your child.

What if I want to stop and restart my membership?

There is no initial enrollment fee charged. However, if you decide to stop and restart; there is a re-enrollment fee of $100 per family.

How is my membership billed?

It is billed automatically with a credit or debit card on file. If you pay yearly, you may pay by check, credit or debit card. There is also a 5% discount if you pay yearly.

Will it really be my doctor answering my questions?

Yes! All of your texts, emails, or phone calls will go directly to Dr. Weiser or Dr. Brannon; and they will be the one to answer them. How often has that happened when you called the doctor’s office with a question?

What if my child gets sick while we are on vacation?

If the illness is appropriate to handle over a virtual visit, then Dr. Weiser or Dr. Brannon will do so. Any needed prescriptions can be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.

What about when Dr. Lemley is on vacation?

Both Dr. Weiser and Dr. Brannon will make sure that you have been notified well in advance of any vacation, so that any needed visits can be taken care of appropriately. There may still be some contact available with your physician, and they intend to cover for each other in the event of an absence. Needless to say, every effort will be made to have a covering physician available.
